Virginia Tech's Biotech-in-a-Box program reaches an estimated 10,000 young students annually -- a figure expected to grow by 20 percent thanks to a recent donation by the Virginia Biotechnology Association.
Industry Suppport Increased
Virginia Tech reported a record $373.3 million in research expenditures for fiscal 2008, including $20.4 million from industry funding. While federal funding increased by 5 percent from fiscal 2007, industry's did so by 20 percent.
